Jamaica has always been a special place since Errol Flynn, Noel Coward, Ian Fleming made it famous over 70 years ago. It has always been the first place people will name when asked about an island in the Caribbean.
In truth Jamaica has it all, which means a Jamaica Vacation or a Jamaica Honeymoon will be something extra special.

Just what makes Jamaica extra special is the real question, and this Jamaica Travel Guide will try to supply some of the answers. There are beaches to die for, mountains, and the most incredible red sunsets anywhere in the world, but that by itself is probably not enough to make you want to take a Jamaica vacation or honeymoon.

There is no doubt it is quite unlike other Caribbean islands close by in that it really does cater for a broad range of tastes. After all where else caters for everything from the idle beach bum to the wealthy, the honeymooner who wants isolation to the partygoer who is looking for an all action resort.

Jamaica, regarded by many as the most beautiful Caribbean Island is the ideal place for a tropical vacation. When you look at the many differing types of people who go on holidays to the Caribbean, they all have different ideas of a perfect tropical vacation. When you look at Jamaica and see lushly covered mountains, waterfalls cascading down onto beautiful white sand beaches, exotic flowers, and activities to suit all. Jamaica is a well developed tourist island, so if you want to play tennis or golf you can, scuba diving isn’t a problem, and if you are a night owl then there is everything from piano bars to limbo shows.

The only area that isn’t well developed is shopping, so husbands and men generally can be relieved to know that Jamaica is not a shoppers paradise - Yet!!

Choosing when to travel to Jamaica is an important part of a Jamaica Travel Guide, and Jamaica really has an idyllic climate so it is a year round tropical vacation destination. The average temperature is 77degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and 82 degrees in the summer. The coastal plains in the north get the benefit of the trade winds that blow from the Atlantic , and then there tends to be a breeze morning and evening caused by cooling and heating of the land.

It rains in May, and from August to October, but to be fair it doesn’t rain every day, and the showers only last a couple of hours maximum.

To make use of any Jamaica Travel Guide you need to know what type of tropical vacation you are planning. Do you intend to travel on your own, or as a couple, or in a group. Jamaica has a huge variety of places to stay , enough things to do to satisfy even the most diverse of tastes. It really doesn’t matter if you are a bunch of college students, honeymooners, or a family there is something for you. Getting married in Jamaica is very affordable, especially if you avoid the peak season from Late December to Late April when accommodation costs are at their maximum.

The type of accommodation you are looking for will be available, unless you must travel at peak season when early booking is essential, but then Jamaica isn’t any different to any other Caribbean Island. Here you will find everything from Casual bed and breakfasts to inns with old world charm. There are super all inclusive resorts to luxury villas, in fact Jamaica has it all and more.

Then there is the small issue of what do you want to see and do. You can easily spend a week sipping pina coladas on a beach or by a pool, lying in a hammock under a palm tree with a good book. On the other hand you could go scuba diving, or river rafting, horse riding, or play golf on world class courses. Jamaica has something for all in the way of attractions and activities to keep you as busy or as idle as you want to be.

This Jamaica Travel Guide can only touch on this tropical vacation destination, but it is obvious that Jamaica is one unique and incredible Caribbean Island.

Survival China Travel Tips and Tricks

The China Travel Tips, survival techniques, to help avoid and make his trip to China easier, so you will be able to experience the real China, with a little less stress.

China is a strange beast that must be respected; major cities, Beijing, Shanghai and Xian, all have their own personality.

Some complex situations which in his view would be a disaster organization to become big and then you wonder what all the fuss and worry. So the simplest of tasks can become a great calamity.

This is when you have what we call here a “China Day”.

These days come and go and are part of the experience of all-day trip to China. One has to have an open mind when traveling in China. It is a place with thousands of years of history and culture overnight that it is trying to adapt to Western lifestyles.

You need to have a very open mind when you travel in China. I have listed below a few China Travel Tips that will make life more bearable little pee in their travel experience of China.

Travel Tips - China toilet wise

• Never expect a clean toilet 100% of the time.

• Be prepared; Bring some tissues.

• You may need to use a toilet squatting, again, if you know this is not a shock. If you do not know how to use a toilet building, try the following experiment at home.

While something to keep in support with both hands, lower your body down in a low squatting position, so that the cheeks of his bottom was almost touching the heels or the back of his calf. Now, go with your hands. See if you stay in this position for at least 1 minute. If it is upside down or could not get up after a squat toilet could be a problem for you! , Has the right to be happy you did.

• If you get a clean toilet, Go… may not come again for a while.

• Many public toilets around the cities, usually those who are to pay OK (RMB, 5), the other best to stay away from if you can. You will soon notice as you walk around the cities.

• Be warned that public spaces such as bus and train stations, which tend to be the class as “hard toilets”, but if you are going gotta gotta go.

• Outside the big cities, toilet systems are old or have very close plumbing / piping and get easily blocked. In these cases, a small basket is usually the bathroom next, it is used for toilet paper.

One of the best China Travel Tips toilet I can give is the use of the hotel lobby toilets, which are everywhere and are always clean. Yet it may not always have toilet paper. It depends on the category of hotel being used.

I do not want to frighten you. However, of all of China Travel Tips to all other sites on the Web that I have read, this is an issue that is not mentioned often, but it is very important for all of us.

So outside of the big cities conditions can be tough. But most of the time everything will be fine, especially if you book a tour, all will be checked before hand. However, even the best laid plans can go wrong, so be prepared, the toilets in smaller cities, towns and villages can be scary.

China Travel Tips - food

• The food is great and the variety is overwhelming. Most of the time you get to choose what you eat, or you can recognize what you are eating, but sometimes you do not get a choice. Wearing a chocolate bar or something, which will keep you going until some foods that can recognize laps. Drink bottled or boiled water since tap water is not drinkable, that is for the whole of China. Even boiled water, while sterilized can contain a large amount of minerals and iron deposits that you probably do not want in the system. The bet is safe to drink bottled water. Tap water in most large cities is OK to brush your teeth.

• Eating habits-Most Chinese have a great habit of being very noisy and when they eat lunch and dinner times can be a wonderful celebration noisy, the food tends to go in all directions, its just part of being in China .

• People smoke cigarettes on the table while everyone is eating, so some restaurants get very loud and smoky.

• If you get stuck which so since most of the menus are in Chinese just look at the table next to you and point to the plate and ask you how much it is, this system works really well and it seems learn to mind.

• I have a basic menu that will help to food safety, (no cats or dogs), this visit will allow greater choice of restaurants, not just tourists with high prices. You can bring with you and use it on the premises where most of the restaurants could serve as what is on it. This way you will know what they are eating.

These premises are very cheap and the food is great. Contact me if you would like me to send it to you.

China Travel Tips - Taxi

• Travel Tips - China - Taxi cabs are an experience that you can have headquarters complaints and panting, but it is too early to get used to it, after the first few rides, you are a veteran.

• The taxis in Shanghai are generally quite good. Try to get the Blue, Blue’ish Turquoise, Oro Blanco and taxis, these are the best… these are the four major taxi companies and are generally recognized by its unique color painting. The others are OK, only older and a rougher ride (others may also have defective meters). No drivers speak English.

• Carry your hotel accommodation or business card with you, written in Chinese, which helps if you get lost walking around town.

• In all taxis around the country will be able to see the name of the taxi drivers and registration number in plain sight. If you have any problems, or if you think has been most pronounced, etc., just take this number down, make a big fuss about it, then the driver should wake up and solve any problem you have. Even better is to take the receipt. This has all the details on the trip and who can call the taxi company if they want to have more things or if you have something left in the taxi.

• The government takes rip-off drivers in all cities, especially Beijing and Xian, very seriously, and if they complain they will lose their license. This is their livelihood. So far I have not had a driver in 3 years that has not been withdrawn, and then we have agreed a price for the trip or solve our problem.

• In Shanghai, which is common practice taxi increases after 11pm. However, one can haggle for a 20% discount, which will return to the previous rate-11pm fee. Be strong with the taxi drivers, never the less, keep calm, smile and negotiate.

China Travel Tips - Shopping

• China Travel Tips - Shopping - China is a paradise for customers, markets, Bargains; Top labels… nothing, and if you have all the time. With clothing, the largest (Western) sizes can be hard to find, however in the big cities, where you can find a lot of tourist traffic, can find them.

• Electrical arts, DVDs, cameras, things like this are not worth buying in China, Hong Kong is still the best place for this.

• Store hours in major cities from 10am to 10pm, 7 days a week.

• Visa card remains the best card to carry, with ATMs in good supply everyone with access PLUS etc. There is usually a charge for using VISA, MasterCard and other forms of credit card.

• Wait on the purchase if they can look around to have a vision of prices. The Chinese are very experienced in the sale and we know that we are to halve the opening price when the negotiations. In markets go for 25% of what they ask first; go so low that they let you walk. This gives you an idea of the bottom price. The end result of the price will probably be around 40% to 50% of the starting point.

Whatever the market people say, which are used to push for better prices and haggling. Do not worry about being too hard, they are used to it and you do not sell an item unless profits. Do not be concerned with the body language apparently injured when going low it is all part of the game. At the time they had wrapped their first purchase, they will try to sell something else. Remember to keep smiling and having fun while negotiating.

China Travel Tips - medical treatment and records

• Most hotels have a doctor who can see. At major hotels speaks English.

• Always take a small first aid kit, repair cold, headache tablets at least. WATSONS is a large chain pharmacies. Most of the remedies, pills, etc., which you may need to be in these workshops. These shops are all over China.

• There is a large network of pharmacies in the stores type, which is indicated by a Green Cross. There will always be a 24 hr Green Cross pharmacy in the city you are in. It is useful to keep a book stage, as it is not going to speak English, but you end up with something that will help.

• INPORTANT POINT-in most mass production package type of medication, the packaging will be written in Chinese on one side, English on the other. But in the stores that only sees the Chinese side. Take a good look, in turn most of packaging, which gives you a lot more confidence knowing that you can read the package.

• If you have a medical problem, make records, most of the doctors have written OK / English reading, even if their oral English are poor.

Travel Tips - China Phone

• Using the phone is as easy as at home. However choose the person to not speak English or have very broken English… chief 4 or 5-star hotels all will be OK.

• What is being done is worthwhile to buy a SIM card from China Telecom, which are about RMB100 and thereby obtains RMB50 in the calls, the other 50 is the price of the SIM card; this SIM card will all major brands of phones and work OK.

In this way, people can get to you inside and outside China if there is an emergency. If you have a couple of phones, it can short message (txt) yes (SMS). Also you can call your tour guide, hotel, and so if you have big problems. It is a cheap way to keep in touch.

NB.Before you buy a Chinese SIM card, make sure it will work on your Cell / Mobile. There is a lot of China Telecom shops that can help.

Travel Tips in China if China does not move.

• Spring Festival, this will be the Chinese New Year time, around late January / Early February

• In early May, Labor Day Holidays

• In early October, the National Day holiday

Of all the Travel Tips China National Day is the largest. Millions of Chinese travel at this time of year holidays. Most of the trips back home towns or to visit his family. Hotels, trains, planes, cars, buses, and all the roads are the most overcrowded. Major congestion, everywhere.

Similarly, the rates for travel are at their full price. Not offering discounts! Staying in one place and will enjoy. It is better and causes less discomfort.

China Travel Tips - TV

• If you want to watch television, most of the major hotels will have cable and if you are in the smaller places, the national channel, CCTV9 is in English. Over the past two years has been greatly improved, with some major China Travel Tips programs, news and opinions about people and places around China.

China Travel Tips - Airport Tax

• There is a “rate of construction” in almost all airports.

Domestic flights RMB 50 International flights RMB 90, to be paid in local currency.

Recently, the tickets are tissued with the construction include VAT but make sure you have money in taxes just to be sure.

I hope that some of these China Travel Tips input and will make your trip to China that bit easier.

The other day I overheard a conversation between two women discussing their summer holiday plans. One was telling the other that she had gone to her local travel agent and asked for a cheap package holiday in Spain. The agent had quickly managed to find a holiday that suited and the lady booked it immediately.

The other woman said that she wished she could do the same but had been unable to find a travel agent who could help. Apparently, someone she knew recommended Northern Cyprus to her. The description of its climate, fabulous beaches, beautiful scenery and welcoming local people deeply appealed to her but she had been unable to find any travel agent offering package holidays there. The person who recommended Northern Cyprus to her explained how it was possible to book flights and accommodation online but she felt apprehensive about not going through a travel agent.

I was quite taken aback at hearing this admission of total dependency on travel agents and ignorance of Internet travel sites. After all, this was 2008 in the U.K. where traditional travel agents have long since been marginalised by online travel sites. Yet, as the conversation developed it became apparent that neither woman knew anything about what resources the Internet offers in this respect.

It got me thinking about how many other people there were around who need tips on organising travel online and when I got home I decided to write down the following seven steps for them.

Step 1: Finding out about the travel destination

Open Google and type into the search box, the name of whatever country or general area you want to holiday in, followed by the words “travel information” or “travel guide”. For example; “Spain travel information”. Browse several of the sites your search throws up and then decide which ones give you the best travel tips relevant to your holiday needs.

Step 2: Deciding on the actual resort

Use the best sites you find from step 1 to decide which resort or locality offers you most of what you want for your vacation. For example, localities with secluded beaches or beaches with lots of facilities, resorts that have plenty to keep the children occupied or quiet villages in scenic locations, etc.

Having familiarised yourself with all that you want to know about the resort or locality, ascertain the nearest airports (or other relevant transportation centres).

Step 3: Finding suitable accommodation

When you have found some resorts that satisfy your criteria, look for suitable accommodation in them. This may require typing a new search term into Google because the sites you have looked at so far may not have sufficient detailed information about specific accommodation in a given locality. They may however have some links to other sites that do. If so, check the links out before starting a new search. If you do need to do a new search, the best search term to use would be something like; Name of resort or locality followed by the word “accommodation”. For example if after researching southern Spain, you had decided you liked what you had read about Mojacar as a holiday resort, you would type; “Mojacar accommodation”. Here’s a tip worth remembering: you may need to refer back to the other website pages that you have already opened so keep them open by doing your accommodation search in a new tab. In case you don’t know about using tabs, take a look at your browser tools options and learn how to set your browser up so that you can open new pages in new tabs.

Step 4: Checking cheapest flight availability

When you have ascertained that accommodation exists in your chosen locality, the next step is check out what flights (or other transportation) is available to get you to the resort.

Open another tab on your browser and this time type in the search term, “cheapest flights” followed by the name of nearest airport. If there are other, more distant airports that you would be prepared to consider, you might want to run separate searches for each airport.

Spend time on checking for flights because quite considerable variations in ticket prices exits, not only from flight operator to flight operator but also from one airport to another even when they are more or less the same distance from your departure airport and operated by the same company. Very significant price variations will also be found by trying different departure and arrival dates.

Step 5: Provisionally book accommodation

Assuming that you establish the availability of flights (or other transportation) at the time you want and within your budget, you will be in a position to provisionally book accommodation. Return to the browser tab you left open with the websites providing accommodation details and follow the instructions for contacting the person or organisation offering the accommodation. Sometimes this will be an automatic online process and sometimes you will need to send an email. Submit the dates you have decided upon from the flight availability research. You will not normally be asked for a deposit at this stage but if you are, inform the accommodation owner that you want them to provisionally hold the dates until after you have booked your flight.

Step 6: Booking your flight

Having received confirmation that the accommodation is available for you between the selected dates, return to the website where you found the cheapest flight deal and book your outgoing and return flights. Very occasionally you might be unlucky and the flights on the selected dates are no longer available. If so you will need to select new dates and redo step 5.

Step 7: Confirm Accommodation

Once you have your flight has been booked you are in a safe position to confirm your accommodation booking. Usually, this will require that a deposit is paid, either online or by bank transfer. Either way, the balance is usually paid upon arrival at the accommodation.

1 The Uffizi Gallery Tip
The Uffizi Gallery contains some of the most important and greatest art collections in the world. It is also the world’s oldest museum.
1 The Uffizi Gallery Tip

The Uffizi Gallery contains some of the most important and greatest art collections in the world. It is also the world’s oldest museum. Most tour guide books and online travel sites will urge you to ensure that a visit to the Uffiizi is included as part of any Florence vacation, no matter how short. What most of them fail to tell you, or at least stress with sufficient emphasis, is that without a pre-booked ticket, you may not be able to visit the Uffizi at all!

My wife and I had a three day holiday in Florence at the beginning of April 2005. We had planned on visiting the Uffizi Gallery and as soon as we checked in at our hotel we telephoned the gallery to purchase tickets. After several attempts without our calls being answered, we asked the hotel reception to do the booking for us. They explained that it was nearly always difficult to get through on the booking line and that our three day stay might not provide sufficient notice to make a booking possible. Despite this, the hotel staff were most happy to keep trying whilst we enjoyed the other wonders of Florence. We decided to check out the situation for ourselves the next day but discovered queues that hardly seemed to move, stretching for an enormous distance around the area of the Uffizi. Queuing all day was certainly not the way we wanted to spend our time in Florence, so we decided to leave things in the capable hands of the reception staff whilst we enjoyed the other attractions that we had come to see. The following evening, we were informed that after many fruitless attempts at getting through on the booking line, success had finally been achieved but only to receive information that all tickets were sold for the following day. We consequently missed out on seeing many of Florence’s greatest art treasures and our top travel tip for anyone visiting Florence on a short stay vacation is to book tickets for the Uffizi Gallery online some time before their holiday.

2 The Inside Tip for the Duomo

Another of the wonders of Florence not to be missed is the Duomo. Actually, it is impossible to miss this magnificent building because it dominates the city and can be seen from virtually everywhere. Savour the views of it whilst enjoying a coffee at one of the cafes in the surrounding piazza. Walk around it, pausing every now and then to appreciate it from every aspect. View it from more distant, elevated, positions around the city. This was once the largest cathedral in the world and even now, nearly six hundred years after it was built, it is the fourth largest. Florence always insisted on everything being the biggest and the best but what really makes the Duomo unique is its dome or “Cupola”. When Fillipo Brunelleschi undertook this masterpiece of renaissance architecture, no one believed that such a dome was possible. The secret had been lost for over a thousand years but Brunelleschi travelled to Rome to unravel it by examining the dome of the ancient Pantheon.

My tip for the Duomo is to ascend this incredible feat of engineering. You can do so by entering a stairway that leads up inside the dome, between its inner and outer shells. When you reach the top, you can step outside onto an external gallery that provides magnificent views of the city and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. This gallery was never finished however, so your views are restricted to northerly and westerly directions.

3 Palazzo Vecchio - David’s Copy Tip

Perhaps the next most famous landmark of Florence is the Palazzo Vecchio. Once again, it is a building worth enjoying from every aspect on the outside before entering to explore its fascinating, art filled, interior.

My tip for the Palazzo Vecchio is to spare a few minutes looking at the pollution-streaked COPY of the world’s most famous statue, realizing that although the original Michelangelo’s David is safely inside the Accademia, the copy is standing just where the original once stood.

4 River Arno Cross Over Tip

This tip is to retreat from the busiest tourist attractions of the city centre and to cross the Arno river via the Ponte Vecchio. The crowds on this wonderful, historic bridge will probably be even more tightly packed than in the central Piazzas you have just left but within a hundred metres of the other side, they will have thinned out and you can explore the delights of the Boboli gardens and the Palazzo Pitti before walking up the meandering paths to the Piazzo Michelangelo which stands on a beautiful hill overlooking Florence and its surrounds.

5 A final Florence travel tip - Avoiding “Stendhal Sydrome”

Florence has so much beauty that every year, there are a few tourists who have to be treated at local hospitals for a condition known as “Stendhal Syndrome”. Symptoms range from feeling faint to complete exhaustion. Stendhal was a French tourist whose nineteenth century tour of Florence overloaded his senses so much that he collapsed with these symptoms.

My final travel tip for a short vacation in Florence is not to try to pack too much in. Even if Florence’s wealth of art treasures, beauty, and architectural achievements don’t actually send you running for medical help, they can easily overwhelm a tourist who fails to heed this advice.

The hotel has been awarded the Mobil Travel Guide Five Star Award, and is listed by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the World’s Best Places to Stay. Indeed, with award-winning restaurants, superb shopping, a deluxe spa, and state-of-the-art fitness center, there are many reasons to stay at The Boston Harbor Hotel, but few reasons to leave….
Help answer the question about travel tips
Any travel tips on going to Ireland from mid-February to Mid-April?
I'm going backpacking to Ireland and Northern Ireland for two months from mid-Feb to mid-April. It's not my first backpacking trip, so I'm fairly knowledgeable on how to travel, but I've never been to Ireland before and am looking for tips. Anything specific on where a good place to meet locals is, where good pubs, cities, towns and villages to visit are, what kind of weather to expect, etc.
I am going by myself, so I'm very interested in meeting locals and fellow travellers.
Thanks!

One of the most important things for any tourist is to have complete information about the place he intends to visit. This is important, for if one does not have complete information about the place then there is every possibility that he might skip seeing some important landmarks of that place. Similarly, one also has to have a complete information about the accommodation available at that place otherwise one might get fleeced and might have to shell out much more on his stay then he would have otherwise. All these information’s are found readily in travel guides and this is what makes them so special and valuable. Indeed, travelling without travel guides would be such a chore and would pose such immense trouble for people concerned.

There are certain aspirations that every travel guides has when he decides to pay visit to any place. It is, therefore, of utmost importance that he knows the place he intends to visit inside out, for it would give him an ample opportunity to make memorable his visit. It is here that such guides come in very handy. They also prove their utility by providing information about things that give exclusivity to the place. This can include information about such things like some rare dish or cloths or some special products. These would not only go a long way in making the trip memorable for people but also add more spunk to their adventure.

The role of travel guides, therefore, is immense and simply cannot be ruled out. However, while purchasing travel guides one thing must be kept in mind. First of all it is mandatory that they are published by a reputed publisher for otherwise there wouldn’t be a guarantee that the information given there would be correct. Secondly one should always ensure that he buys the latest edition for things might have changed and the information available, therefore, can become obsolete. Lastly one must ensure that while purchasing travel guides he never compromises on the cost for the information given in them worth their merit in gold.

It is for this very reason that travel guides are considered to be of extreme importance. So much so that it is advised that before planning an outing to any place one must consult the travel guides, for then one can be rest assured that he would have complete information about the place he plans to visit.

Globetrotters are constantly on the lookout for novel world travel destinations to quench their thirsts to know and grow. Tours around the world probably enhances one’s knowledge spectrum to a large extent, bringing a considerable part of the globe at your feet. A world travel guide will lead you through a smooth and hassle free traveling experience.

It is a clever and sensible step to decide on the cheap flights that take you to the top world travel destinations. These flights provide more than decent services and the crew at the airports as well as that on the flights extends admirable hospitality to the visitors. Most heartening, however, is the fact that these services are meted out by the cheap flights at unbelievably reasonable prices.

The United Kingdom is one of the prime world travel destinations, attracting the travel desires of all and sundry around the world. Hence, an UK tour is expected to form an essential part of the world travel guide. Home to some of the finest world hotels, UK provides a huge array of accommodation options to the visitors. All of them, however, ensure strategic locations, near to the main conveyance hubs. The rooms at these hotels are generally spacious, well furnished and most elegantly decorated. These some of the best world hotels also provide first class business facilities, like conference centers, STD/ISD facility, Internet, etc. To occupy your leisure, opt to take the assistance of the travel desk at the hotels to visit the famous tourist sites, like the British Museum, Madame Tussaud’s, London Eye, etc. Step up your UK tour by putting up at any of these hotels.

Of all the world travel destinations, Beijing stands out as a special choice. This solely owes to the forthcoming Beijing Olympic 2008. The Olympic Games are programmed to take off on the 8th of August, 2008 and continue till the 24th of August, 2008. The grand opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 08:08:08 pm CST at the Beijing National Stadium. Some of the events, however, are slated to be hosted by some of the other cities in China. The closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics is scheduled to be conducted on the 24th of August, 8.00 p.m. in the Beijing National Stadium.

The mascots of any Games bear tremendous significance and Beijing Olympics 2008 is no exception. The mascot here consists of a set of five Fuwa or the ‘good luck dolls’, comprising Bebei, Jingjing, Yingying, Nini and Huanhuan, symbolizing the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow and the Olympic Flame respectively.

A tour to Beijing during the Olympic Games is sure to be covered in detail by a world travel guide. Whether you will need eighty days to cover your desired trip around the world in a desired manner, is debatable, but, the journey through the much loved places with the help of a thorough world travel guide will be certainly of great assistance to any traveler.

But, finally, they never got the recognition the could have had, even with the musical change that occurred in the last album, Electrelite. The alchemy did not work: the fans were deceived by it and it was still too hard to listen for the neophytes.

For an Italy travel guide, the best way to start is by figuring out how long you are going and what sort of budget you are working with. These are both necessary for you to start on your Italy travel guide. If you are traveling for business purposes for instance, then you are probably not going to have a lot of time to fit in touring.

If you are going for Italy travel</strong> for yourself however, then there are lots of things you are going to want to do. Start off with setting up a hotel or other means of lodging for yourself. You are going to need a place to stay while you are in Italy after all, and so this should be the first step taken for your Italy travel guide. Make sure that you find an apartment, villa or other type of Italy travel accommodations that are going to come with the features and amenities that you need.

Then for your Italy travel guide you are going to want to start planning out different activities. One thing that most people fit into their Italy travel guide is checking out the local restaurants. If you love Italian food, then you are never going to taste it any better than the authentic food that you get in Italy. Also for your Italy travel guide, you are going to want to check out Venice.

This is one location in Italy that you are not going to want to leave out of your Italy travel guide. It is very unique, and cars are almost nonexistent here. The city is built on 117 small islands and is linked to the mainland service town of Mestre by a road and rail causeway.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa will also be great to fit into your Italy travel guide. This tower is about 56 meters high and is inclined in relation to the vertical by 4 meters. This is one of the most popular attractions in Italy and therefore one that you are definitely going to want to check out. When anyone speaks of Italy they speak of the Leaning Tower of Pisa so you are not going to want to miss out on.

There are lots of other great things that you could fit into your Italy travel guide again and regardless of what you choose to do the most important thing is that you get to do things that interest you and which you are going to enjoy.

Travelling educates you, provides you fun, and makes you feel refreshed. That is why people travel, some occasionally and others quite often. No matter how often you go out for travelling, you will miss out the full fun factor unless you know where to go and which places to visit. Travel guides are important for this. They provide you elaborate information on where to go and what are the things to be seen.

Not all people are equally informed; some people may have extensive knowledge on something while others may have only a faint idea. The world is vast and there are lots of places to be seen. If some places are important for their historical connections then other places are famous for other attractions. Travel guides tell about it and are necessary to find out the important spots in a particular place.

It is not possible for a single person to know what all places on the earth are attractive and worthy to be seen. Nor can anybody know how to get to the place, where to stay, how to get the right food and etc. One can take a guide who will lead him but at a very high cost. Paying for a human guide may not be possible for all people. With properly prepared travel guides, there will be no necessity of any costly human guides.

Reading big books on the importance and attractions of a particular place is not possible for all people, especially when he is on travelling. So, he needs something that can give him guidance quickly. In this regard, cards used as travel guide can be of good use. There are cards that tell the best things to see and do in a place. They also include info on the nearest and best places to eat and stay. They are nothing less than a human guide.

In order to have the best vacation possible, I’m going to share with you the must know tricks and travel tips before you travel.

The very first thing you must do is RESEARCH. You want to learn as much as you possibly can about your destination prior to arrival. Yes, this is going to require some time and effort on your part but it is going to be more than worth it. This is the only way to truly understand what it is you want from your vacation and what you want to do on your vacation.

Here are some things that you should always know about your destination.

Weather - You need to know what you should be packing and planning for.
Paperwork and Documentation - Know what is needed to travel to your particular destination.
Know if there are any diseases common to the area you will be traveling to - this way you are able to take preventative measures.
Costs of local items - You want to be able to properly plan your budget; remember to include taxes and tipping.
Holidays and festivals - check to see when these occur for your destination as you may find limited services on those days.

The best holidays are the ones we are most prepared for. Do yourself a favour; make it a habit to always know as much as you can about your destination before you travel. It’ll make all the difference in the world!

What are some other things that you can do to prepare yourself? Use these travel tips before you travel.

Make 2 photocopies of your passport. Take one and put it in a safe place or leave it with a friend. Take the other one with you and keep it in a separate place from your passport, this way should your passport become lost or stolen, you can use the copy to exit the country and it will also facilitate the replacement process.

Email yourself important information such as: airline numbers and flight information, credit card numbers, passport and driver’s licence numbers and anything else that may be of importance to you. This way if anything is lost or stolen, you are just and internet connection away.

Know your banking information. For your credit card, make sure that the valid dates will remain valid while you’re traveling, know your available spending amount and don’t forget to leave some room on it for emergencies. Check your ATM and debit cards’ daily and total limits.

Learn some local phrases. If you are traveling to a country with a foreign language, it’s always nice to know some of the local phrases. Knowing the “polite words” and just a few local phrases will be a huge help. You will find that natives really appreciate this and will tend to be more receptive to your questions. Maybe you’ll even make a new friend while you’re at it!

Be aware of the voltage that’s used for the country you’re traveling to. If you are taking anything that requires an outlet; cell phone, computer, video camera, etc. make sure to purchase plug adapters. For things such as hairdryers, curling irons, electric razors, etc to purchase an actual voltage converter unless your appliance has multiple voltage currencies.

When traveling to a foreign country it’s always best to be as prepared as you can be. Do as much research as you possibly can, remember these travel tips before you travel and your trip abroad is sure to be a success.

Here’s your final checklist: Passport, tickets, car rental and hotel reservation receipts/agreements, credit cards, medications or prescriptions, if required, addresses, password and any other important information that you may need. Don’t forget the most important thing: your adventurous travel mind, see and learn as much as you can and have the time of your life!

We often check out a world travel guide when we need to collect information about a place which we are planning to visit. The travel guides provide us complete details about a place like the cultural heritage sites to visit, best places to shop, accommodation options, the places to taste the best and traditional food, best time to visit, the specialties of that place etc.

Apart from the above mentioned tourist information in the travel portals, you can also find detailed information about the hostels and apartments on rent, available for a long stay at a place. You can also collect information about the car rental services available at that place and how you can arrange a car for yourself to make your trip more enjoyable and comfortable. You can also check out information on how to reach that place and the various modes of transportation available at that place.

However, the travel portals and guides do not provide ‘travel and holidays’ related information alone. They have many other tools, which prove to be useful for a traveler. Few of these are mentioned below:

The Newsletters: Most of the travel portals publish E-newsletters which contain information about the best tour packages to the different places, the best hotel deals, cheap car hire, low cost flights and cruises, the up coming events and festivals in that place etc.

The interested travelers can sign up for the newsletters for free and receive them in their email on a regular basis with the latest updates.

Travel Journals: Travel guides also publish travel journals which contain tourist information and travel experiences of travelers. These journals contain information from first hand experiences. Therefore, they provide you tips to make your visit to a place enjoyable. Some of the journals also contain photographs, contributed by the tourists.

Weather Information: Travel portals offer real time weather forecast and information for different locations. They provide information about the weather conditions along with the minimum and maximum temperatures. It proves to be very useful for travelers.

Maps: All travel guides provide maps of places. These maps prove to be useful tools for travelers as they contain directions, detailed road maps of accessible area etc.

A travel guide without the above mentioned tools and features are not much useful for a traveler. However, even if a travel guide contains these tools, they need to be regularly updated, so that they are able to guide people accurately during their travel.

‘Places Online’ is one of the best travel guides available on the internet. For more information you can visit www.placesonline.com.

Travel Tips

Golden rule

The first thing that you Must ALWAYS REMEMBER.

You must always pack your own bags and not put Anything inside that will get you in trouble, this includes Flammable Liquids, Sharp Objects and banned substances of any kind. Under No Circumstances should you ever allow anyone, not even your best friend to pack your bag. When checking Inn, nowadays in any airport you are always asked. Did you pack your own bag? A This question may sound routine to you but it is the most important question with regards to your travel.

The Second thing you must ALWAYS REMEMBER.

Never carry anything for anyone no matter how small the package or what the excuse is, your life and your freedom may depend on this. In most countries around the world trafficking Banned substances will extend your Holiday a lot longer than you want it to, maybe for the rest of your life it’s No JOKE!

Passports and visas

Every Country has a different policy on Visa’s and entry permits. It is inportant that you check with the Embassy of the Country or Countries you are going to visit,to see what their Visa or entry requirement are. If you need to get a visa it can take a couple of days so you need to plan ahead, and you would also need a passport that has at least 6 months left before it expires. This may increase if you are going to be travelling for a longer period.

Keep your passport in a safe place, since you will need it whenever you board an international flight. In some countries you will be required to leave your passport with the hotel or hostel when you check in this is to satisfy regulations requiring the hostel/hotel to register all foreign visitors. You will need to show your passport when cashing a traveller’s cheque.

Photocopy the identification page of your passport to carry with you in case your passport is lost or stolen while travelling.

Before departing make sure you are covered by insurance that will reimburse travel expenses.

What to pack

Your main objective should be to travel as lightly as possible, casual dress is acceptable in most countries around the world except for Muslim countries, where visitors can not wear short or scanty tops. In some Asian countries spiting or dropping chewing gum on the street can get you in trouble with the law which might result in a fine, always make sure to read the do’s and don’ts of the country you are visiting this will make your life much easier.

Break in your shoes before you leave home, shoes with soft substantial soles are not only deal for walking but can ease the difficulty of manoeuvring the cobbled streets that characterize many old city centres especially in European countries.

Health

Make sure you get all your vecinations from you doctor before you travel this will ensure that you stay healthy while you are travelling.

Always take sensible precautions during hot weather, wear a Hat/sunglasses and sun block, drink plenty of fluids. Tap water in Europe, America and Canada in general is safe to drink, although its high mineral content can cause Minor stomach up sets if you are not used to it. If travelling further a-field you should stick to Bottled water which is an inexpensive and widely available alternative.

A general rule to stop any stomach up sets is to stay away from salads, uncooked foods and fruits, no matter how good they look.

Language

Travelling is always exciting and enjoyable if you can converse a bit with the locals. Only the basics are needed like yes, please, no and thanks you accompanied by a pleasant smile, polite manner and using your common sense will get you very far.

If you are really stuck with Communication remember that hostel /hotel receptionists usually speak English and in most cases are helpful and friendly. So you should make use of their help and they could even teach you a couple of words. Be nice to them!

Money and valuables

Having some funds in local currency is a necessity, but only carry what you will need for a day or two if its lost or stolen your chances of getting it back are next to nothing. Travellers Cheque are reliable and safe, always keep a record of the Cheque numbers you redeem and receipts in a separate place in case you need to produce them in the event of loss. Be prepared to show your passport each time you cash a cheque or offer one in Payment

Personal safety

Common sense keep valuables passports, money, credit cards etc hidden when you are on the move a money belt or neck belt or neck purse worn inside clothing is the safest option, also put money in different places so that if one bag is lost you have another source of funds. Any bag you carry with you should have a secure fastener with strap that goes over your neck and crosses your body this ensures that bulkier items like cameras etc are safe from pick pockets.

Getting around

Find a central public transportation information centre spend some time there and obtain information on how to get around the city, including transportation maps and detailed maps. Buy valid transport tickets for multiple rides or for more than one day, they will save you money and the inconvenience of having to buy a new ticket for every journey. There are a variety of public transportation in Europe and America these include subways, trams buses etc

Each country has its own customs and regulations it is very essential to take note of these, the European Union countries are considered as one and there are no limits on goods for personal use when travelling between member countries, however restrictions do apply when travelling between EU and non EU countries.

Florence, Italy is one of the finest places to visit in the entire world. Many consider it a dream vacation and for others, it’s become a yearly adventure to see everything they can. If you’ve never been to this area before, you will want to know everywhere to go and enjoy during your stay. According to Suzanne Morrison and the Travel Guide To Florence they have all the answer for you in this eBook.

As an avid traveler, Suzanne takes a trip to the Florence area every year according to her sales page. So it’s safe to say she is well informed about the surrounding area there for those of you who are skeptics. So what you will find below is information we found on her site, along with a few testimonials along the way that will hint towards other things involved in the eBook she is presenting to you.

Free Tips By Mail

Once you reach about half way down the page you will see a little paragraph or two talking about additional photos and tips. These are in addition to what you will find on her sales page. It’s just something optional, but if you want to see more then it’s definitely worth taking the time to do so. You might end up finding something that interests you even more then what Suzanne has already shown you.

Some of the Learning Involved

When it comes down to it, this is about education. Your goal with the information provided in the Travel Guide To Florence eBook is to learn as much as you can before you actually get there. Things like all the towns and villages you can visit. Then of course, the essentials like how to get a train, bus, or car. Most important, how you can keep from spending all your money while you’re there and come home stress free.

The Time and Research

We’re talking about hundreds upon hundreds of hours Suzanne has admitted to put into this project. Not to mention all the money that has been spent over this time traveling, eating, purchasing enlightenments and many other experiences over that time. Now, obviously you won’t see everything there is to offer, but once you reach the last third of the page you will get an in depth look at some sample parts to the eBook.

Our Overall Analysis

Even though the book is based off the ins and outs of Florence, Italy, there is much in store. We saw a few bonuses at the end that will intrigue you that much more. The first is getting an eBook on how to learn Italian, which will be essential during your stay. Also, each time Suzanne makes her way to Florence then you will get updated photos and information along the way.

This could be what you’ve been looking for in a travel guide to this area. You will just have to see it for yourself. However, we will warn you, the price that comes along with this is so mind boggling you probably will be ready to take that trip by year’s end. Then again, it’s just our opinion, it could be sooner.

Even those working in small businesses are finding that they need to travel more frequently these; even the smallest company can have customers anywhere in the world now. However, anyone who has spent a great deal of their time traveling for their business will tell you just how tiring it can be. Seasoned travelers may already be aware of the business travel tips below but if you are a new member of the business travelers club then you may find the information very useful.

When baggage goes missing it is irritating to say the least but for someone on a business trip it can be a whole lot more disastrous. An easy remedy to this is to pack as much as possible that you absolutely must have for you meeting, in your hand luggage.

This makes a great deal of sense because you are covered should your main luggage go missing then your meeting can still go ahead and hopefully your main luggage will be located in due course. The key business travel tip is to pack light and only include the minimum you will need in your main luggage.

In order to accomplish this, make do with a pair of casual shoes and a pair of business shoes only, and be sure to only bring enough work clothes to last you through the trip. The remaining items to pack will be toilet essentials and any other work related documents that aren’t important.

You should also be able to use a smaller piece of luggage if you roll all of your clothes into a cylinder shape and not fold them as this way they will take up less space and it will reduce the likelihood of creasing which is a business travel tip that flight attendants use all the time. Dark clothing are very useful for traveling business people as it hides stains and dirt very well, so if you get sweaty or spill a coffee on the flight it won’t be too noticeable.

The ideal situation is where you can hop off the plane, quickly comb your hair, and make use of hygiene wipes to freshen up (another popular travelers trick) and then meet a client right away. Cell phones and other related equipment normally have good battery life but don’t forget to take a charger if you are going to be somewhere for more than a few days.

If you make effective use of your day time downtime’ while you are traveling, then you may be able to spend evenings exploring the areas once when you arrive at your business trip destination. Regular business travelers make these preparations before every trip to ensure the business side of it goes without a hitch.

Business trips do not have to be boring and stressful if you apply the business travel tips in this article as they will allow you the opportunity to enjoy your free time even more.

The information about travel, safari, travel tips presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about travel, safari, travel tips or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

Before stepping on that plane for a marvelous safari adventure, plan like there’s no tomorrow. You will thank your self for being precautious when faced with untoward incidents. Here are the important things you should consider when going on a safari travel:

1. Remember that it is one challenging endeavor.
Planning a safari can be one of the most exciting feats one can ever manage to make happen. It is not one of the generic travels, usual jetsetters indulge in. Though you are provided with a tour brochure and a tourist guide, it still is better to research on your own regarding the various itineraries.

2. Best spots for safari should be spotted. The most suggested parts of Africa to enjoy safari include East and Central Africa, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Islands.

3. Prepare for the climate. It is a must to know the seasonal trends and how they will affect your travel. But also remember that the weather is fickle-minded so you can never really accurately predict the outcome of your travel if you will base it one the weather alone. If you are going to visit East and Central Africa, long rains start early in April to early June. Short rains abound during late November to December. Southern Africa has its rainy season from late November through mid-April for the safari areas. However, during that time, it will be summer in Southern Cape. When one prefers Indian and Ocean Islands he or she can expect the seasonal trend to be more like of that of Southern Africa. In these islands, summer rains last from November through April. Cyclones can also be experienced during those seasons. From May to October, the dry season occurs.

4. Choose your activities. Among others, safari traveling offers these fun-filled activities: a. gorilla trekking b. sailing c. birdwatching d. participatory camping e. self driving

5. Know what you can afford. When choosing a trip, budget constraints should never be overlooked. Decide on a price range that you can work on. To make your budgeting more effective consider the level of luxury of your safari travel, length of your trip, activities, accommodations preferences, meals and season. 6. Determine your travel style. Do you prefer your safari to be more luxurious, moderate or rustic? Will you let kids tag along? Are you traveling with a group or will you be one bold, independent traveler? Will you travel by air or road? What about your guide and your vehicle? Answering those questions will more or less improve your overview of your dream safari travel. Have fun!

This article’s coverage of the information is as complete as it can be today. But you should always leave open the possibility that future research could uncover new facts.

If anyone plans for domestic traveling, then you will follow these ten domestic travel tips useful.

•	If you are planning for a domestic travel trip with a Family and Relatives, call the airline in advance to see if you can choose your seats. Otherwise, you may have to sit separately from your Family members in a flight.

•	The weather conditions may be quite different at your destination compared to the climate at your home place. USA such a big country that domestic travel could get you to an entire new side of USA you have never seen before. For example, if you take a domestic flight from Los Angeles, CA, USA to Miami, FL. The conditions will be somewhat different and you will need to pack accordingly.

•	Be attentive that you might be end up at somewhere, even for domestic travel, where you can’t speak the language.

•	Imagine that you are far away from your place & you lose your wallet or luggage it has stolen when you are away form home on domestic travel. To avoid this loss its good idea to make photocopies of all your important documents.

•	Making phone calls may be costly, even for domestic travelers. The best way to save funds is to use calling cards at a pay phone, or to check with your mobile phone company whether they can arrange for you to use your cell in other parts of the country at a reasonable cost.

•	Bring many books & magazines to read. If you take domestic flights frequently, you may find it a bit boring after a while, so it is good to have something to keep you occupied.
Travel and tourism in UK are on an upswing and the time is right to make the most of it. There are many ways you can contribute to enhance tourism in UK and in return gain multiple benefits from it. One such way is by preparing travel guides. In this article, we will look at two things – how you can make travel guides for upcoming tourist destinations and what are the benefits that you can enjoy from this activity.

First, we will see how you can prepare travel guides for various destinations in UK. The first thing that you would have to do is choose a place for which you can make the travel guide. The best way would be if you could visit the place and write about it, however you can also put in second hand information. Now choose a few areas on which you would like to write.

Categorise all the information into separate sections like geographical details, climatic conditions during the year, transportation and how to reach the destination, communication system of the region, land and people, culture and lifestyle, best attractions and sight seeing etc. If you could add some pictures along, it would be great. Prima facie, the more information you can provide, the better the travel guides get.

There are many things that you can put in your travel guides. There are also many benefits that you will get in return of making travel guides. First, there are some web sites and magazines who pay you well for making travel guides for them. Second, you can also have your own blog and help those who seek information and get online traffic for your blog. This helps you gain recognition and prepares a launch pad for you in the much sought after UK tourism industry.

Travelling is a hobby that is pursued by millions and millions of people in the world. And some of them also go to the extent of sharing their knowledge and experience with others, for the love of travelling. The best way to share such knowledge about places and regions is by writing travel guides. This article is for the neophyte travel journal writers who are dabbling with the art of travel guides. Here we will discuss some of the essential things that you must include in your write up.

A travel guide can be as short or as long as you want. However, there are some essentials that you must fill in your readers with, so that they can find your efforts useful. Now, different readers look for different things in a travel guide – it all depends on their choice and preferences. If you have a niche audience in your mind while writing the travel guides, then you can focus more on what they choose to know about. However, if you are writing for the more exoteric group, then here are some important elements that you should not forget.

The first thing that you should do is, give your audience a bird’s eye view of the region or the place you are going to discuss. This is like a prelude that will tell your audience what to expect and prepare them accordingly. It will also set the tone and prepare the base for branching out into sub categories. Categorize your topics – even if you plan to write short travel guides, divide it into sections for clarity and hence, better understanding.

Do talk about the climate there for the entire year, the special attractions of the place and also how to reach there and about internal transportation. Include, travel guide the mode of communication that can be used and also talk about where to stay and availability of food and night life in the places you are writing about in your travel guides.

The proliferating travel industry of different countries and places provide an excellent opportunity for those who love to explore various attractions of the world. And with the increase in number of travel enthusiasts around the world, now there are wonderful opportunities for those who wish to pen down their experiences. The idea is to make travel guides and manuals which will not only provide knowledge to other travellers, but will also fetch you good money.

There are many organisations that have found immense potential in promoting travel guides and tourism in different countries and regions. Some of these organisations focus on only the major attractions of the world like Mount Rushmore and The Grand Canyon, while some focus on the swanky cities of the world like New York etc. Some are country or continent specific like Australia and Singapore and some do not have a finite range, they just take on the whole world at large.

You can either associate with them and start making travel guides for these organisations or you can also opt to work for different travel magazines and other journals and periodicals where they promote travelling to some extent. You can get in touch with many online travel guides and journals and provide them the manuscript of your experiences or you can also have your own blog and share your journey with the whole wide world.

There are multiple resources where you can publish your travel guides. But remember that your travel guides should follow certain rules which can be either tacit or explicit. For instance, you should keep the language simple and comprehensive. Your readers should understand what you are trying to say. You should also keep it interesting so that you can excite your readers about the place you are discussing. Plus there are other guidelines that frame travel guides which you should adhere to.

Argentina is a popular destination, but it’s important to note on any vacation that there can be cultural, geological and meteoroligical differences when travelling abroad that could potentially ruin your entire trip. While in some places the differences can be minor, in others you could deeply offend a person by doing something you thought to be kosher. Don’t let this happen to you, below are what I believe to be the top 7 Argentina travel tips. Follow these tips and you’ll be sure to leave an impression of courtesy and enjoy more hospitality from the locals.

1. The most common form of greeting in Argentina betwen friends is kissing one anothers cheeks, so don’t be caught off guard when someone makes a lunge toward your cheek. And return the favour out of courtesy if they have.

2. Once in Argentina, one of main methods of transportation is underground shuttle, or by bus/trolley bus, or taxi. Their are 5 main public ral lines, labelled A to E and services operate from early mornng to late at night on a fixed-fare basis. Buses are generally very crowded but are often the quickest means from one place to another.

3. Spanish is the offical language of Argentina, while English is widely spoken - don’t rely on everyone to speak English, you should at least get some basic Spanish down before travelling to Argentina.

4. More then 90 per cent of Argentina’s religious faith lies in the Roman Catholic church. Remember this as it does have an effect on what is kosher and what is not.

5. Argentina has 5 major airlines in an effort to make the big country smaller when travelling. Oddly enough, sometimes a flight will be faster and cheaper then say a bus or a taxi, so look into flying as a possible means of transportation for those slightly longer endevours.

6. You can get answers to most of your questions about Argentina tourism from the Argentina Tourist Information Center:

Secretariat of Tourism, Tourist Information Centers: Av. Santa Fe 883, (C1059ABC) Buenos Aires, Tel. 4312-2232 or 0800-555-0016; Ezeiza International Airport and Jorge Newbery Airport; info@turismo.gov.ar.

7. The official currency of Argentina is the peso, ills come in 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 pesos. One pesos equals one hundred cents. 2 pesos are blue, 5 pesos are green, 10 pesos are brown, 20 pesos are red, 50 peseos are grey, and 100 pesos are purple/violet.

8. Tips are somewhat outlawed in Argentina, though people still expect a tip in most situations - if that’s the case 10 percent of the bill as your tip will suffice for the most part.

9. The Argentina time zone is Argentina Standard Time, which is GMT -3 hours, and GMT -4 hours in the summer. So set your watches correctly!

And the best tip of all is to plan ahead, use caution and common sense, and most of all - have fun!

For the modern traveller, the world is your oyster. Okay, maybe you’re not prioritising a summer visit to currently war-torn countries such as Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq or Sudan. Likewise, tales of drug-trafficking, kidnapping and armed muggings might put you off a two-week sojourn in Venezuela or Colombia. But perhaps you are considering something a little more off the beaten track - a holiday that will test your nerves a little, or that will embed you in a completely different culture or environment?

Many a modern traveller now explores further afield, with Australasia, South America, Asia and Africa proving very popular for those with an adventurous spirit (who don’t mind long plane journeys). But for any such trips, there are known - and unknown - dangers that you may want to research before you leave. Visit Australia and you’ll probably be bombarded by people listing its dangerous creatures - box jellyfish, crocodiles, redback spiders, taipan snakes, sharks, and so on - together with a litany of tales surrounding those backpackers who never came back… But go to ’safe as houses, no dangerous animals/plants here’ New Zealand and you may not realise that its capital city, Wellington, sits on a major earthquake fault line that is well overdue a ‘big one’!

Indeed, in a Norwich Union survey of last year, several places were highlighted as potential danger areas, including Thailand, Mexico and South Africa, where illness, accidents and crime are common. Again, not terribly surprising, perhaps, but did you know that travellers to Mexico made the most number of claims to the insurance company for overexposure to the sun? Probably not.

The findings also mentioned the Caribbean as the worst area for travellers to suffer insect bites and stings, and even Spain and the Canaries hit the list, for possible robberies and pick pocketing.

Even if you deal with all the insects, robbers, earthquakes, illnesses, hungry sharks and venomous snakes, you may still get in your car and crash. In fact, the most likely way for holidaymakers to meet misfortune is on the road, with 15 million people a year injured worldwide in traffic-related accidents. Remember that terrifying taxi journey on the way to your hotel last year? Yes, most of us can recall at least one terrifying car journey in our search for that holiday magic.

But don’t worry, BeatThatQuote.com is here to help address all your holiday concerns (both those that you knew about as well as the ones we’ve just got you worried about). With these travel tips, you can be sure you’re making the right preparations for a safe and happy trip, no matter how adventurous you are feeling:

 1. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office website is a great source of information on safe/dangerous destinations, as well as general travel advice. Well worth a look if you’re planning to backpack round the world.

 2. Do not forget or skimp on your travel insurance. Get travel insurance and check that the cover is appropriate for your destination and planned activities abroad. Also ensure it covers any health issues you might have. According to recent research, 15% of British people risk going abroad without any kind of travel insurance - considering an air ambulance from the east coast of the US might set you back £30,000, it is really a risk you don’t want to take.

 3. If you are planning to hire a car or you are taking your car with you, check you are covered for accidents and/or breakdowns. Don’t assume your UK car insurance will cover you for driving overseas - it might not protect you for anything more than road traffic accidents.

 4. Check what vaccinations you need at least six weeks before you go and consider whether you need to take extra health precautions. Ensure you have sufficient medical insurance cover for your chosen destination, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions.

 5. You will probably be leaving your home empty while you are away - ensure you have got/renewed your home insurance in the event of anything happening while you holiday. Also consider asking a neighbour to pop in/water the plants every now and again to ensure your house looks occupied.

 6. Get a good guidebook and get to know your destination. Find out about local laws and customs.

 7. Make sure you take all documentation with you, including your passport, necessary visas, and insurance documents. Make copies and store separately just in case you lose anything.

 8. Check your bank cards. Do you know how much you will be charged for using your cards abroad? It might also be worth telling your bank or credit card provider about your trip. With fraud on the rise, some card providers/banks will stop your card if they see unusual/unexpected spending. A phonecall will remedy this situation but it’s just another holiday ‘downer’ you can avoid.

 9. Take enough money for your trip and some back-up funds, for example, travellers cheques, sterling or US dollars.

 10. And if you’re going for a long trip of several months or more, just don’t forget your responsibilities at home, including your mortgage. Budget carefully and ensure you can cover all your payments both at home and abroad.

Once you have done all of this, all you need do is pack your bags and go. It might be a scary world out there, but with a bit of forethought, there’s a whole lot of opportunity for adventure too. Have fun!
