. This time, the popular media started to notice them; they were seen on TV and in national magazines. For the first time, a French indie rock band is on their way to being recognized by a large fringe. But, finally, they never got the recognition the could have had, even with the musical change that occurred in the last album, Electrelite. The alchemy did not work: the fans were deceived by it and it was still too hard to listen for the neophytes. Despite a big tour, it smelled like the …

Several jobs come to mind.
Oilfield – you can go to Argentina, Russia, China, Indonesia, Egypt, USA, Alaska, Japan, etc.
Tour guide – only if you work for the company where the tours are going on.
Flight Attendant – only if you agree to the overseas flights, but you are never home.
Journalist – you need to put in your years as a research journalist, etc,
Magazine photographer, or photojournalist – these people get to travel the world, again, if they get in with the right organization.
GOOD LUCK!

If you want a sponser, you need to have a special talent in a specific field. From my experience, the easiest way if you want to travel is to work until you've gathered enough money to affort the plane ticket. Then get ready for the big jump. Pick a country, get a visa if need be and find a job when you get there. Use the net to check job sites and talk to people. I'm talking from experience. I've travelled a lot and you have to be ready to dive into the world and see what you can do when you've reached your destination. If you want to travel, a little 'danger' is part of the adventure. Show the world what you can do. Go for it.

Pack very very lightly. I'd say 3 changes of clothes are enough. Think in layers. A t-shirt, long sleeved shirt, a sweater, and a raincoat can keep you pretty warm.
Choose a bag partially with your athletic ability in mind.
I would not EVER recommend anyone get a backpack without a) internal frame and b) compression straps.
Now that I'm getting older, I also require rolling wheels. I'm using a victorinox bag that is carry on sized. One of these convertible backpacks:

I think $150 or less is a reasonable price on these. $300 is just so stores can mark it down.
To give you an idea of how lightly I packed for a 5 day trip, my carryon was only half-full before I found a used bookstore and bought 20-30 books to bring back with me. Checked the bag returning because it was way too heavy.
To seriously save money, you need to a) stick to developing countries b) don't travel around from place to place a lot and c) watch what you spend in hotels and such.
I have managed to spend $50 a night for a *hotel* not hostel in both Tokyo and in New York. Guidebooks can be pretty helpful.
I prefer Lonely Planet over Rough Guide. Rough Guide seems more aimed towards partiers vs. cultural explorers.
Frommers is more for people with money who aren't interested in roughing it.
Plan out what sort of things you are interested in, or at least what countries you are interested in going to, before just buying a round the world ticket.
I'd recommend saving up most/all of the money you need for the trip beforehand. Add a little extra to what you originally budget in case you find something you really want to do or want to stay longer. Plus living expenses for some time to get a job when you come back. Credit cards can be a big hole.

Yes there are, but not tour guide. Cruise ships have people from the island. The tour guides on St Kitts live on St Kitts so you wouldn't get to travel any. All jobs can be temporary. They allow you to quit when you want but I wouldn't mention on the interview that you plan to.
Cruise ships require 5 yrs min of experience in any field. Flight attendent requires you to attend class for roughly 6 wks, unpaid. Then they station you somewhere so it's not going to be where you apply at. You may end up out of NYC sharing a flat with 6 other people. Peace corp or military allows you to see the world. Boot camp prerequisite. For most things you can do it with a high school diploma but you need skills. Really the only thing that doesn't require you to have any skills is missionary work but you have to live in horrible conditions.
Your best bet would be an assistant to someone. For example, actresses have an entire entourage–from hair and makeup to person who gets the coffee. Many tv shows film on location. Travel channel shows or Wheel of Fortune. You could be an assistant camera person with one of them. The movie industry has thousands, from the assistant to the assistant producer to the roadie who packs the cameras.
You could get a job teaching English in Europe though you have to pay your own way over there. Nannies are big in Europe–what's it called–au pair? A rich family would have to have need of a service and be willing to pay you room and board. You wouldn't end up with money at the end of it. Just the room and board though. Government job with someone at the UN. A job working on a yacht. Rich people keep a crew on the yacht at all times and you get the phone call "Have my yacht in St Thomas by July 31".
You really need to know someone. Most people get those jobs through knowing someone like that though. And without having any experience at all, you'll have to figure out a way to sell yourself. Why do they want to hire you?
